Reading
- In Reader's Workshop this week we will review the good reading habits we have been building all year such as:
- reread to smooth out our voice
- scoop up words in phrases
- do something at the end of the book
- We will also begin our next reading unit: Readers Have Big Jobs To Do! We will learn how to be the boss of our reading by using strategies when reading become tricky.
Writing
- In Writer's Workshop we will be starting our next unit: Reviews!
- In this unit students will be able to share their opinions and write reviews about things they collect, about books they have read, or about any of their other favorite things.
- They will learn that as writers we can share our opinion and then give reasons for why we think that to convince our reader. "Carrots are my favorite snack because..."
- To help your writer kick start the brainstorming process, we need your help! Have students think about their favorite snack, game, book, or piece of their collection. Have them give you reasons why they like it.
Phonics
- In Phonics we will begin our next unit: Word Builders!
- This unit focuses on using everything we know about word parts to spell new words. This unit is also a study of vowel teams. Vowel teams are when two vowels sit next to each other in a word and work together to make one sound.
- This week we will focus on ee and ea. (see, tree, beam, eat)
