Reading
- In Reader's Workshop this week, we will continue using our word detective skills by taking a closer look at word.
- We will look at breaking about big words into smaller parts until the word sounds right or makes sense.
- Then we will focus on just the endings of words and "break off" the parts of the words we know. For example -ing,-ed-es-s. This will help us recognize the ends of words more quickly.
- Please practice these word detective strategies at home on those "tricky" words.
Writing
- In Writer's Workshop, we will continue to learn and write How-to books.
- We will learn that How-To writers add an introduction at the beginning to let the reader know a little bit about what they're going to teach them. We will practice adding introductions to our own How-To's.
Phonics
- In phonics we will learn about the letter twins, words with double consonants. We will study how they are broken into syllables (mis-sing, kit-ten, big-ger, bliz-zard).
