Math
On Monday, the students will be participating in another 3 Act Task where they will have to estimate how many eggs are in a basket and then solve. Afterwards, we will share a couple of examples that help students see that counting all, counting on, or counting 10s and 1s are strategies for counting numbers.
For a lesson later on in the week, the students will be exploring Tens with Ten Frames. The goal is for the students to have an "aha" moment of making connections between the model of numbers (ten frames) with the digits that name the number.
For math workshop, the students will practice bundling groups of tens. The teacher will have different supplies (crayons, paper clips, etc.) and counters in baskets with bundling tools such as rubber bands, paper cups, or baggies. Students will work in groups to bundle tens and then count the objects, recording the total number. Also, the students will be playing a game called Race to 50 (a place value game). The students will practice trading ten ones for a group of ten. Whoever gets to 50 first wins the game!
Science
This week in Science, we will begin learning about different patterns of movement. We will start with a field trip to the playground, so the students can experience and see movement first hand. The students will learn:
The students will work in groups to create a short video showing one of the patterns of movement. The class will review the videos and create a word wall for the words straight lines, zigzags, up and down, back and forth, round and round, and fast or slow. This will be for the students to reference.
Social Studies
We will also read the books The Three Little Pigs and The True Story of the Three Little Pigs. While reading, we will discuss the importance in voting. At the end of the week, the students will get to vote for who they believe is telling the truth.

This week in Science, we will begin learning about different patterns of movement. We will start with a field trip to the playground, so the students can experience and see movement first hand. The students will learn:
- Objects change location in various ways, such as closer to or farther from other objects.
- Objects move from one location to another in different ways and patterns, such as straight lines, zigzags, up and down, back and forth, round and round, or fast and slow.
- We can describe, demonstrate, and record changes in position and patterns of movement of objects.
- How can we explore how objects change location?
- How can we explore the different ways and patterns that objects move?
- How can we describe and record changes and patterns of movement?
