Math
This week in Math, we will be focusing on using make 10 and doubles strategies to help us solve equations. These friendly facts can be used when thinking about other math questions. The students will use these strategies in math workshop during their partner games and independent work. We will also focus on this idea during our daily math talks.
We will also be continue working on problem solving. Understanding the beginning, middle, and end of a math problem. How to determine whether we are looking for the whole/total or we are looking for a part.

Science
This week in Science, we will observe, compare, describe, and sort components of soil by texture, size, and color. We will be exploring and observing top soil, sandy soil, and clay. As a class, we will be creating an interactive word wall students can use to understand the different properties to describe the types of soil. The students will collaborate to create a chatterpix about their assigned soil type and then they will share these with the class.
Social Studies
In Social Studies, we will be learning about Eleanor Roosevelt and Francis Scott Key. We will discuss the contributions that each person made to our nation/community.
